Aaron and Hur Prayer Team
In the Old Testament, there is a great battle that is recorded between God’s chosen (Israelites) and the Amalekites. Joshua was instructed by Moses to fight the Amalaekites while he (Moses) would go to the top of the hill overseeing the battle. While Moses was on top of the hill, he would raise his arms, invoking the power of God to rest on the side of the Israelites. As long as Moses arms were raised, Joshua and his army were experiencing victory. However, the battle was long and Moses in his age was having difficulty keeping his arms raised throughout the battle. Every time he would lower his arms, the Amalaekites would start to experience victory in battle.
Seeing this pattern, two Levites (Aaron and Hur) rushed to the top of the hill to help Moses keep his arms raised and ensure the victory for the Israelites. We are looking to start a new prayer team @ Burton that will be seeking to fulfill the roles of Aaron and Hur. We are taking volunteers (groups of 2
to 3) who will meet in the Pastor’s Office during the Traditional and Blended services on Sunday. This team will be in prayer lifting up the leaders of the worship service and asking for God’s blessing in the songs, readings, sermon, offering, and communion.
It is vitally important to have people lifting up the church leadership in prayer. Had it not been for Aaron and Hur lifting up the arms of Moses, the Israelites would have been defeated. The same can be said for our leadership on Sunday’s. We do not want to take people out of the worship service indefinitely. So we are hoping to have enough volunteers to spread this ministry opportunity out to have people serve just one Sunday a month. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Kerry Foote.
