Note from the Editor:

To many, the love of a pet is right in there with the love of family.  As any pet co-habitator knows, each dog or cat that ever resided in our abodes, has a different personality than the furry friend before, or the furry fido down the street.

We have personalities and God gave them to us.  That glob of white matter housed in calcium between our ears would be nothing if left up to us. In fact if left up to us we would probably allow it to just sit on the couch and stare globily at American Idol.

Have you ever seen the dog lay on the couch and globily stare at American Idol?  No.

Fido or Fluffy may appear to be house debris from time to time, but just let a dog bark 3 doors down or a kitty howl across the street and Fido and Fluffy are up and running, doing what Fido and Fluffy do only to return and seek the approval of their human companion.

Yes, Fluffy and Fido are true friends and friends have God-given personalities and God-given souls.

When our pet passes, darn, it hurts.

I recently lost my little Doobie Dan.  He'd been a faithful friend to our family for 16 years.  It was his "time" and I had to take him to the vet and do that thing we all hope we never have to do.  I had never done it before.  I hope I never have to do it again, but yet I know I will.

I took him to our own local Dr. Price.  Upon my departure, he handed me some literature that he had prepared to offer comfort to those who had done what I had just done.  With his permission, I am publishing it.

Will My Pet Be in Heaven?

"In Job, Chapter 12, vs 7-10, we read that all the animal kingdom knows that it is God who has made them and in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.  It is God who has made them and it is God who is maintaining their life.

Therefore, we see that God's keeping and loving care are eternal and independent of His creatures.  Are all Gods' creatures eternal beings?

Psalm 104, vs 27-30, describe God's eternal care over all His creatures.  These verses speak again of God satisfying the needs of His creatures.  It continues in saying that God takes away their spirit, they expire, and return to dust.  So animals have a spirit given by God.

So when God takes away their spirit, where does this spirit go?

Revelation, Chapters 4 and 5 describe the throne of God.  God is on His throne and surrounding the throne the Bible says, is twenty-four elders on twenty-four thrones.  And surrounding these are myriads (uncountable) of angels surrounding the throne.  And outside of this uncountable number of angels are "every created thing which is in Heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea and all things in them."  All these are singing a song:

     Revelation 5:13
"To Him sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever."

Animals in Heaven glorifying God.  Singing! Is God so small that He cannot have every living creature gathered to Himself?

One important difference.  The animals have no will.  They do not choose to be with God or apart from God.  God gave mankind a will.  The ability to choose.  For this reason the Lamb (Jesus) left Heaven where He had always been and came to this world.  He came to show us what God is like.  Jesus lived and died as no man has ever died.  For He took upon Himself the punishment that sin must receive for all the world.  Jesus has given us freedom from sin if we ask Him to come into our hearts and be our friend and Saviour.  We must admit we are helpless without Jesus and His blood which has paid for all sin.

So there is a big difference between me and my pets.  That I must choose to accept Jesus as my  Messiah, Saviour Lord, believing He is who He says He is and admitting I am dead now and for all eternity without Him.  My pet will have a paid for ticket to Heaven.  So will your pet.  Perhaps he entered Heaven today.  Will you?

You can...simply pray right now as you read this prayer and claim Jesus as your Saviour:

      Dear Jesus:
I know I am a sinner.  I believe you died for me.  Make my home Heaven when I die.      Thank you for dying for me and living with me now from today on...I love you Jesus"

Thank you Dr. Price for sharing.
